Inspired by the medieval fortress in the eastern French region of the same name, Carcassonne is a strategic tile-placement board game where players build the countryside around a fortified city. Players draw tiles that depict cities, roads, monasteries, and fields. Each new tile expands the game board, and players can place their followers on the tiles. By assigning followers to the right roles, players strategize to earn victory points. The player with the most points at the end of the game wins.
Master of All Trades!
Followers can take on various roles: knights, monks, farmers, or thieves, depending on where they are placed on the tile. Each role scores points differently. For example: a thief is placed on a road and earns 1 point for each tile making up that road. A monk is placed in a monastery and earns 1 point for each surrounding tile. You have a limited number of followers, and once placed, they remain on the tile until the structure or road they are on is completed. You must decide whether to play for quick returns or long-term investments with potentially higher points.
The Best Tile-Laying Strategy
As the map expands, so does the opportunity for players to disrupt each other's plans. Everyone contributes to the same map, but only one follower can occupy a role at a time. If you don’t assign a follower to a role, another player might take it. Clever tile and follower placement can deny opponents valuable points. Whether you block the development of a city or connect an opponent’s road to your own to split the points, Carcassonne offers countless ways to outsmart your rivals.

With its unique mechanics and 84 tiles, the game offers endless combinations and strategies. Carcassonne is a game that appeals to both newcomers and seasoned players. This edition is fully redesigned and modernized, including two expansions: "The River" and "The Abbot." The game is 100% language-independent and comes with rulebooks in Serbian.
