The board game Cascadia (in Serbian) gives you and your friends the opportunity to compete in creating the most diverse ecosystem of the Pacific Northwest by drafting habitat tiles and wildlife tokens to build a beautiful landscape mosaic and, of course, score the highest number of points.
The board game Cascadia (in Serbian) tasks you with taking turns building your habitat and populating it with wildlife. The goal is to place habitat tiles to create an appropriate terrain that reduces fragmentation and ecosystem decay and creates corridors for wildlife. You start with three hexagonal habitat tiles, and on your turn, you choose a new habitat tile that is paired with a specific wildlife token. You then place that tile next to your others and the wildlife token on its corresponding habitat. The total number of habitat types in the game is 5: mountains, forests, prairies, wetlands, and rivers. Also, 5 types of animals are available in the game: foxes, elk, bears, hawks, and salmon. During your turn, you can only place one habitat tile, each of which shows 1-3 types of wildlife that can inhabit it. At the beginning of each turn, you will have to choose from 4 tiles in the middle of the table, and each tile is randomly paired with a wildlife token, so you must make the best of what is offered to you—unless you have a nature token that you can spend to choose any item you want. To get the highest score, you will have to place the wildlife as indicated on the objective cards for each animal type. Also, try to expand the habitats as much as possible because at the end of the game you will get points if you manage to create the largest area of each habitat type, with a bonus if your group of animals is larger than your teammates' groups.
The game ends the moment you no longer have habitat tiles in reserve. At that point, the points you have managed to collect in different ways are tallied. You must devise a good strategy and take care of everything, especially the wishes of the wild animals. Perhaps hawks want to be separate from other hawks, while foxes want many different animals surrounding them, and bears want to be in pairs. Can you make it happen?
