The board game Jack and the Beanstalk is ideal for the family (even for those who don't like beans) and is based on the well-known fairy tale of Jack and the magic beanstalk.
You are trying to climb the magical beanstalk to reach the Giant's castle and collect as many bags of gold as possible! The one who collects the most gold is the winner. At the beginning of the turn, all players simultaneously choose an action card from their deck to play, revealing them only when all players have chosen which card they want. Then, players alternately choose the number of dice they will roll on their turn, depending on the 2 numbers indicated on the card. After that, players use the rolled dice to build the stalk by stacking them on top of each other, and they also apply the effects drawn on the dice. This can involve placing a trunk piece on the stalk, as well as placing bags of gold. If you successfully place everything needed and nothing collapses, you will draw as many cards from the gold bag deck as your bags were on the stalk.
We don't need to mention that you must be extremely careful while extending the magic stalk, because if you knock it down, you lose your turn, and all other players will collect gold (if there was any on the stalk), except for you. To make matters even darker and worse, each player is allowed to use an axe once during the game to try and prevent others from collecting gold by knocking down the stalk.
Besides having to carefully assess the moment to use the axe, you must also swing it well. The game ends the moment all action cards have been used, or there are no more cards with bags of gold. Then all players turn over their collected gold cards and total their points.
