Devil’s Burden has survived a long history of conflict. Legend says that in ancient times, there was a wizard who was very powerful; he boasted around that his power could rival any devil. His boastful character angered one of the demons who, annoyed by his bragging, began throwing rocks at the wizard's tower. Although he retaliated by throwing stones down the tower, fighting back, the wizard was ultimately overcome. The area was left as a mass of ruins, which later became known as Devil’s Burden. No one knows if the story is true, but what is certain is that the city and the surrounding stones possess a mystical energy. A wide array of unusual heroes, in reputation and behavior, make it their home—Mages come to the area to study at the wizarding school, dwarven masters create strange and unusual contraptions by harnessing the power of steam, and mighty warriors travel far from their homes to be admitted to the famous combat academy. The city of Devil’s Burden has been attacked! Armies of monsters, each led by a fearsome commander, have descended upon the city, breaking through the defenses and trampling everything in their path! No one knows why they chose to attack now, nor what their motives are. Your duty is to assemble an army of heroes and stop them!
