The children's board game Micons tests the observation skills of both children and adults! Besides observation, players will need to recall which emotions are generated by everyday elements.
The game begins with all players receiving 5 cards, and one card placed face-up in the middle of the table. In each turn, players search among their cards for an object that matches a characteristic shown on the open card. These can be visible characteristics like shape or color, or they can be intangible concepts like salty, sweet, hot, cold, noisy, etc. If a player spots a characteristic, they immediately say it aloud and place the card with that characteristic on top of the open card in the middle. If a player doesn't have a matching card or cannot think of a shared characteristic, they draw a new card. Then the next player takes their turn.
The winner is the player who is first to play all their cards and run out of them.
The board game Micons is an ideal game for youngsters. Besides developing memory and observation skills, it allows them to communicate and actively participate in discussions: "Do you really think a cat smells bad?"
