Four deadly diseases are spreading across the world simultaneously, and it is up to the players to cure them. Players take on the role of disease specialists whose goal is to contain the outbreaks while searching for cures to eradicate them before they spiral out of control.
Players can perform specific actions such as traveling between cities, treating infected populations, discovering cures, or building research stations. A deck of cards provides players with these abilities; however, it also contains Epidemic cards that fuel the diseases! If too much time passes or the outbreaks get out of hand, the players lose—making teamwork essential. If they successfully find a cure for all 4 diseases, the players win!
Pandemic Legacy is a standalone game that closely resembles the famous classic cooperative game Pandemic. Players work together to suppress deadly diseases rapidly spreading across the globe. However, Legacy differs in that the board changes permanently, and every action players take carries consequences for every subsequent game!
Inside the box is a special top-secret deck of cards that players draw from until instructed to stop. These event cards direct players on what and where to add items to the board—ranging from special stickers that alter the map and secret packages that add new elements to the game, to fundamental changes in the rules themselves! The more games you play, the more the game evolves, leaving it up to the players to adapt to the new challenges.
