Four deadly diseases are simultaneously spreading across the world, and it is up to the players to cure them. Players take on the role of one of the disease specialists whose goal is to prevent the infection from spreading while searching for a vaccine to eradicate it before it gets out of control. Players have the opportunity to use certain actions such as traveling between two cities, treating the population, discovering a cure, or building a research station. The deck of cards gives players these opportunities, however, it also contains Epidemic cards, which help the infections! If too much time passes or the epidemic gets out of control, the players will lose, so they must work together. If they find a cure for all 4 diseases, the players win!
Pandemic Legacy is a special (standalone) game that is quite similar to the famous classic cooperative game Pandemic. Players work together as a team to suppress deadly diseases that are rapidly spreading across the world. However, Legacy differs in that the board constantly changes and everything the players do has consequences for every subsequent session! Inside the game is a special deck of cards that players draw from until they reach a certain card that tells them to stop. The cards are events that tell players what and where to place on the board—from special stickers that change the board, special sealed packages that add more things to the game, all the way to changes in the rules of the game itself! The more sessions that are played, the more the game itself will change, and it is up to the players to adapt to the new challenges.
