It is time to pack your trunks and head to Platform 9¾! Codenames Back to Hogwarts puts a fresh spin on the world-renowned classic word-association gameplay, infused with thematic new mechanics that will delight long-time fans and new players alike.
As new first-year students, you will be sorted into two rival houses. Each house has its own Prefect who knows the secrets of the fabled school’s mystery card grid.
The Prefect’s Task is to provide their team of students with a clue consisting of a single word and a number (indicating how many cards are associated with that word).
The Students' Task is to follow these clues and explore Hogwarts by guessing the corresponding words and revealing one card at a time.
This version isn't just a visual refresh—it adds layers of strategic depth through unique house abilities. Each house has access to two powerful and distinct special abilities designed to transform the fundamentals of Codenames. Since each game features two different houses, and each house will use only one of its two abilities per session, there are a multitude of possible combinations to explore. This ensures that no two games are ever the same!
