Do we truly have free will? Who makes the decisions? Are we controlled by what we hear and see, even while believing we choose freely? Insider is a thrilling social deduction game that confronts you with these very questions! Through communication and deduction, you must find the correct answer to a quiz, or more importantly, uncover the "insider" who is manipulating the discussion. The Insider will do everything to hide their identity and mislead the others.
In Insider, roles are assigned at random. One player is the "Master," and they secretly select a word from a set given in a deck of cards (or choose and write down a word in a variant). One player is the "Insider" and secretly knows this word, while the remaining players are designated as "Commons." The Commons then have approximately five minutes to ask the Master "yes" or "no" questions to deduce the secret word. The Insider, whose role is unknown to the others, attempts to subtly guide the Commons toward the correct word without revealing their identity.
If the Commons fail to guess the correct word within the allotted time, everyone loses. If the word is correctly guessed, the Master flips the sand timer. The Commons and Master then have until the sand runs out to discuss the game and deduce the Insider's identity. If they correctly guess the Insider, they win the game together, but if they fail, the Insider wins.
