The era of the Roman Republic is drawing to a close, but not until the power struggle between Caesar and Pompey is resolved. It is up to you to command your legions, strategically deploying them to key battlefields to attempt to seize control of the provinces and become the rulers of the Republic.
The board game Caesar!: Seize Rome in 20 Minutes! is a 2-player game that lasts 20 minutes or less (as the title suggests). The point of the game is to control provinces within the Roman Republic. During their turn, players take turns drawing tokens from their bags (blindly) and placing them on the appropriate spots on the board depending on what they depict. The player who places the final token within a specific province receives a bonus token (granting them a one-time special ability, such as an extra turn or the choice to flip an opponent's token face down). The player with the most control in a "completed" region will also be able to place one of their control tokens in that region—if they already own an adjacent region, they gain two spots. The first player to place all of their control tokens wins.
Knowing when to hold back or simply allow a province to fall into your opponent's hands is just as crucial as knowing when to attack aggressively!
