Dungeon Lords: Happy Anniversary is a special edition of the game Dungeon Lords. In this box, alongside the base game, you receive the Festival Season expansion—which introduces a fifth season to the year, new monsters, and spells—as well as the Dungeon Setup mini-expansion, stickers for the food tokens, and metal coins. A true treat for fans of Dungeon Lords!
In the board game Dungeon Lords, you are an evil dungeon owner trying to make your lair as dangerous and cruel as possible. In each turn, players use cards to assign their workers to mine gold, hire monsters, expand their evil influence, or craft traps within their dungeon. Each player has their own board representing their dungeon. On their turn, players place three order cards on the board to deploy workers to specific locations. Afterward, two of those three cards are locked, and the player cannot use them again in the next turn.
There are 4 turns (seasons) in one year, and the game ends after 2 years. At the end of each season, heroes will appear in your dungeon in an attempt to destroy or plunder it. The player must choose monsters to confront the heroes or set deadly traps. If you successfully defend against the attack, you earn points. If you have expanded your evil influence enough, the legendary Paladin will march toward your dungeon. He is worth many extra points if defeated, but he is also much stronger than other heroes, so you must be careful not to let him ravage your dungeon. Points are also awarded based on the amount of gold, the complexity of your dungeon, your evil influence, and more. After two years (8 seasons), the player with the most points is the winner.
