The artificial oasis of Faiyum was built 3,900 years ago by expanding the Bahr Yussef canal to flood an area away from the Nile, enabling agriculture within the empire. This oasis allowed Egypt to shine in its full glory and become one of the greatest civilizations ever.
The board game Faiyum casts you and your opponents in the roles of the Pharaoh's advisors. Your task as an advisor is to collect goods, build roads, establish settlements, and do everything else necessary to allow the empire to develop and grow stronger. For this purpose, you are supplied with the required labor, resources, and money. However, the other advisors can also use everything you do, as none of it belongs to anyone but the Pharaoh; the only thing you gain from it all is what matters most—the Pharaoh's respect. Can you prove you are cunning and skillful enough to achieve the highest goals regarding Egypt's prosperity, earn the Pharaoh's favor, and win the game?
