The board game Gloomhaven: Jaws of the Lion is a standalone game with events taking place prior to the timeline of the original Gloomhaven.
The game includes four new characters, who can also be used in the original Gloomhaven game. Additionally, the game introduces sixteen types of monsters (including seven new standard monsters and three new bosses) and a new campaign with 25 scenarios that invite heroes to investigate cases of mysterious disappearances within the city… Is this the work of Vermlings, or is something far more sinister afoot?
Gloomhaven: Jaws of the Lion is aimed at a slightly more casual audience to introduce players to the game mechanics more easily and quickly. The entire "heavy" setup has been removed from this version; instead, players will play directly in the scenario book, which features new, unique artwork for every scenario. Learning the game is also streamlined with a simplified rule set and five tutorial scenarios that will make it even easier for new players to master the game.
Gloomhaven: Jaws of the Lion can also be played as an expansion to the base Gloomhaven. If you’ve been hesitant about purchasing Gloomhaven until now, you can now experience a piece of that atmosphere through Gloomhaven: Jaws of the Lion without it taking a heavy toll on your bank account.
