The board game Horizons of Spirit Island is a standalone expansion for the original Spirit Island board game, designed by R. Eric Reuss.
This cooperative game allows players to work together to repel invasive colonists by destroying their settlements and filling them with fear. Players expand their presence across the island while playing power cards from their hand to influence the board. Horizons of Spirit Island introduces five new spirits with evocative names such as "Devouring Teeth Lurk Underfoot" and "Sun-Bright Whirlwind." These spirits are fully compatible with the original game, although they are not printed on cardstock as thick as the original. All spirits feature a unique passive ability alongside a range of abilities activated through card play. All the new spirits in Horizons are of low complexity, and their abilities make the game less demanding by allowing for easier damage to enemies, slowing down the invaders' ability to build, and facilitating movement across the board.
