Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart is dead. His last conscious act was the composition of the Requiem. As one of his patrons, you will meet with his widow to participate one last time in financing the work of the Austrian genius. Additionally, you will reminisce and recount all your memories alongside Mozart to ensure she portrays you in the best light when she writes her memoirs, aiming to go down in history as Mozart's most important benefactor.
The board game Lacrimosa casts players in the roles of patrons of the late musician, and their goal is to contribute to the composer's works with their resources one last time. During the game, you play in two different timelines: the present and the past. In the present, you commission missing parts of the Requiem from other composers to complete it. When past events unfold, the game takes place across five eras in which you contribute by purchasing new compositions for sale or performance, accompany the composer to various courts and theaters, and collect the resources needed to support the musician throughout his career. Are you ready for the world to remember you as the patron of one of the greatest musicians of all time, or will that recognition go to someone else?
