When Elsa von Frühlingfeld presented her invention to King Frederick Augustus II of Saxony, people thought it was a hoax. She used the recently isolated element uranium to heat a jar of water, using the resulting steam to power an engine that kept the uranium active through a process she called "atomization." Her device, the Nucleum, ushered in a new era of energy and prosperity over the following decades. Saxony transformed from a minor regional power into the center of European science and engineering. Now, a generation later, factories are still hungry for more power, demanding the construction of larger plants with more nuclear cores, more uranium imported from the neighboring land of Bohemia, and railroads and power lines built across the country to carry the harnessed power of the atom to the great cities of Saxony...

The board game Nucleum is a strategic game in which players take on the roles of industrialists trying to succeed during Saxony's 19th-century economic and technological boom, fueled by the invention and expansion of the Nucleum (nuclear reactor). You will earn points by developing your networks, building and powering city structures, securing contracts, and fulfilling various milestones. Will you manage to fight your way to victory?
