Word is spreading through the streets and taverns of a stirred-up "death curse"—a wasting disease affecting all those who have been raised from the dead. The victims grow thinner and weaker, day by day, slowly but surely approaching the death they had evaded for so long.
When they finally succumb to the curse, they cannot be resurrected again, regardless of whether they have experienced that miracle in the past. Temples and students of divine magic are unable to explain the curse spreading across the entire region, and perhaps the world.
The cause of the curse is a necromantic artifact known as the Soulmonger, located somewhere in Chult—a mysterious peninsula far to the south, surrounded by mountains and dense rainforests.
