The board game Fog of Love is a discovery of how to achieve a happy ending in a love story you create together.
It is all about the choices you make while building your story. In the end, each of you can win or lose... individually or together. You do not play Fog of Love as yourself, but as an imaginary character. This character is your portal for exploring and experimenting with a narrative, fictional relationship.
Your character is defined by a set of three secret personality traits that influence what he or she wants and what they wish to avoid. The character also has an occupation and three physical features assigned by your partner—these represent what your partner "fell for" or first noticed about your character.
Just like in real life, you do not know your partner's motivations—at least not at the beginning (hence the game's title). Therefore, a key part of the game is getting to know each other through gameplay and the choices you make.
In the end, all the choices in the game add up and shape your relationship. The central personality track is where you keep score of your choices. Your traits define where you want all of this to go.
Push your desires too hard, and your partner might start to believe that this relationship is going nowhere. Compromise too much, and you will have trouble achieving your own goals. After all, compromise in a relationship is not always possible!
