The expansion introduces an automated deck of cards that completely replaces the Shadow players, giving everyone the opportunity to cooperate in order to achieve their desired outcome—victory for the Free Peoples!
Inspired by one of the best-selling and most award-winning board games, War of the Ring, War of the Ring: The Card Game allows you to travel directly to the world of The Lord of the Rings and create your own version of the dramatic conflict between the Dark Lord Sauron and the Free Peoples of Middle-earth. The game gives you the chance to compete in two teams, with each player using a unique deck of cards representing the strengths and weaknesses of the different factions involved in the war. The Free Peoples desperately try to complete their quest to destroy the One Ring while simultaneously defending their homelands from Sauron's invading hordes and his evil allies. The Shadow players must strike quickly and decisively before the Ring-bearers complete their mission, or attempt to slowly corrupt Frodo, burdening him with wounds, hardship, and grief over the loss of his companions.
